about
“You can't help it. An artist's duty, as far as I'm concerned, is to reflect the times.”
Nina Simone, musician and civil rights activist
Nylen Brewington Al-Ahmar is an emerging Black and South Asian Art Director and Photographer, crafting stories rooted in genuine human emotion, creative self-expression, and cultural preservation.
Known for her sense of nostalgia and cinematic wonder, she prioritizes storytelling and intentionality. Light, color, and composition are treated as language, shaping stories that feel both intimate and expansive.
Beyond the frame, she uses art to foster community. She is the Founder and Chair of The MusEUM Project, a community organization rooted in the intersection of art and activism, or artivism. There, she creates platforms and safe spaces for creative exploration, collaboration, advocacy through artistic expression, social change, open discussion, empowerment, mentorship, and community development.
She also has experience teaching visual storytelling to youth at Amazing Grace Conservatory, an award-winning performing arts school in Los Angeles, California, where she developed a curriculum that centers self-expression, advocacy, and visual literacy alongside technical skill.
Looking ahead, Nylen envisions establishing The MusEUM Project as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, expanding to facilitate youth enrichment, art therapy, and mentorship programming, establishing accessible creative workspaces in underserved communities, hosting festivals and conferences for creatives across the country, and more!
Nylen’s storytelling extends across digital media, where she treats platforms as gathering spaces. In six months, her TikTok has grown to reach more than 1.6 million viewers and generated 2 million post views, an organic response to content that centers Black girls, women, and queer expression.
She brings strategic leadership to her roles as Chief Creative Officer for Cover2Cover Magazine, Head of Social Media for Inspired Minds Collective, Head of Cinematography and Event Coordinator for The Culture Keepers Circle, Photographer for Models of the Mecca, Incorporated, Events and Outreach Director for Radical Readers Children’s Literacy Program, Special Projects Lead for the American Advertising Federation Howard Chapter, and as an Adobe Student Ambassador

Founded in January of 2024 during Nylen’s freshman year at Howard University, Nyvision Productions began as an Instagram page showcasing her creative work. Since then, it has grown into a dynamic platform evolving toward an independent studio.
With a vision for the future, Nylen plans to register Nyvision, LLC, and expand Nyvision Productions into a full-scale, internationally recognized production house and creative agency, producing work across advertising, music videos, and editorial photography.
Under the Nyvision, LLC umbrella, and in collaboration with The MusEUM Project, Ourvision will emerge as a series of brick-and-mortar creative spaces across the United States, primarily in underserved communities, designed to be accessible hubs for emerging artists, creators, and innovators.
